Cameron Robert Gonzalez

Cameron Robert Gonzalez, 24, of Paso Robles, California, End of Watch July 2, 2026.

Date of Birth, September 13, 2001, in Monterey, CA. Cameron was a lifelong resident of Paso Robles since 2003. He built a life defined by strength, Honor, humility, and an exceptional dedication to service. He graduated from Paso Robles High School in 2020, leaving an indelible mark as an elite athlete. A fierce competitor in youth club Legacy Soccer, youth and high school football playing both sides of the field. He excelled in the sport of wrestling, Cameron achieved Top 25 ranking in the State for the 175-pound weight class. His unmatched work ethic and integrity earned him both the prestigious Lions Club Award and the Iron Man Award. After graduation, he continued to pour his passion back into local youth, assisting on the mat in youth wrestling and the Little Giants Softball.

Following high school, Cameron dedicated himself to protecting others. He spent three years working on the elite Ventana Hot Shot Crew, working on the frontlines of high-priority wildland fires. Transitioning his passion from fire safety to law enforcement. Cameron became an Officer with the Paso Robles Police Department in December 2024. He served with distinction and honor. Recently in 2026 Cameron earned the Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Award for his commitment to keeping local roadways safe. He participated and represented PRPD in the Prestegatious law enforcement Baker to Vegas run. During his first year of his career he worked the most overtime in his department.

Cameron was a man who never just talked about doing; he simply set his sights, silently put in the work, achieved his goals, and then maybe—just maybe—he would tell you about it. Driven by an insatiable curiosity, he was always asking questions, fact-finding, researching new subjects, and seeking deeper knowledge about everything, including exploring different faiths. He had a rare ability to sit back, watch, listen, and truly observe the world around him. Yet, for all his focus and drive, he carried a carefree, lighthearted attitude. Known affectionately as "Cameron Cito," "Cam,"  "Big kid”, “Chili”, “kid”, “Bucket”, or "Bean," his warm smile, long eyelashes, and genuinely loving presence touched countless lives at a remarkably young age. He was happiest helping others.

Fun facts about Cameron, he could sleep anywhere. His babysitter named their first born after him. He shares his first name and date of birth with one of his closest PRHS friends, ironically, they both wrestled and committed their lives to serve and protect in the community they grew up in. He maintained a 4.0 AP Plus, but only had to crack a book twice, teachers actually reported he napped in class. He ate like a bottomless pit, he loved food, swears pizza could heal any ailment and usually had some type of sour candy on his person.

Cameron found immense joy in a vibrant array of hobbies. He loved the adrenaline of riding dirt bikes and street motorcycles, skateboarding, mountain biking, martial arts and shooting at the ranges. He possessed a sharp creative and analytical mind, which he expressed through drawing, researching every subject thoroughly, tattooing, building Legos, collecting Hot Wheels and Spider-Man memorabilia, gaming, and racing RC cars. He was deeply connected to nature, and enjoyed hiking.  He loved all animals, especially dogs, they gravitated to him. He brought home a snake from fire, he often found a stray dog on PRPD duty and kept them as his beat partner as long as he could.  Often, he could be found learning new card games, solving puzzles, or working on his trucks and cars alongside his beloved Papa.

His family will forever hold close his signature wit, unique phrases, and affectionate routines. Cameron always said, "If you're gonna to be dumb, you gotta be tough," and lived by the standard that "Almost, don't cut it." They will fondly remember him holding out his index finger to say, "In a minute," waiting on bee do, and his nightly parting words: "Goodnight papa, I love you Ma."

While Cameron was deeply committed to his professional callings and varied passions, his greatest joy was found in his family, friends, and partners. In March 2024, he and the love of his life, Wendy, purchased their very first home together. The couple officially united in marriage in May 2024, beginning a beautiful life rooted in mutual devotion and shared dreams.

Cameron’s legacy of bravery, honor, selflessness, and warmth will be forever cherished by his surviving family: his wife, Wendy Gonzalez Rodriguez; their deeply loved child expected in February 2027; his father, Robert Gonzalez; his mother, Christina Clifford; his brothers, Dorian Gonzalez and Adrian Gonzalez; Rodriguez and Clifford / Gregory extended family, his law enforcement and firefighting brothers and sisters; and the entire Paso Robles community.

The family wants you to remember what you loved most about Cameron and thanks you deeply for the love you gave him. They leave you with these comforting reminders in his honor: Remember you are enough, you're always with family and friends, stand together strong.
