Mr.  Heggarty was one of a kind, and people of his good nature are very hard to come by nowadays. Many of  my childhood memories have a lot to do with Jim and his family considering his grandson and I were best buds, Jim would take us to the movies, take us range shooting, and always be kind enough to let me stay over at their place. He was always in the happiest mood when I talked to him,  and with someone at that age they come to realization and reflection about their life and they are either frustrated because they didn’t get to do everything they wanted to or they are content and happy because they lived their life up, and that’s exactly what Jim did, he lived life up and always stayed humble and content. You will be missed by many Mr. Heggarty and definitely had a big impact on my life. God Bless you and your family.

My husband, Bud Robinson, lived in Atascadero and Mrs Heggarty was his 4 th grade teacher.  Bud and Jim were in Boy Scouts together. 
Later the Heggarty’s moved to Paso Robles across the street from my house on Oak street.   Mr Heggarty had the Texaco service station and my Dad’s business was 2 doors down. 
Jim and I would go to school together and became good friends. We talked or corresponded with him until he moved to Arizona.  
A great friend to both Bud and I.

Jim was a great friend from high school on. Fortunately we were able to re-connect in person about 25 years ago. That led to some great visits. He was a man who accomplished much and helped me in many ways.

We always enjoyed Jim and regarded him with the greatest respect.  He was a delightful and nurturing influence on our community.  He is, and will be missed.  His like doesn’t grace our society much anymore.

I knew Jim from WAY back in the day. I met him when I was about five years old when my family moved onto Shannon Ave where the Heggartys lived. My parents hit it off right away with Jim and Jerry.  I don’t have a personal memory with Jim since I was young but I do remember he seemed to always be outside in his driveway with his huge cigar. He’d always say hi and wave if our paths crossed. My thoughts are with his family. RIP Jim ❤️

Mr. Heggarty was an excellent man. I remember his hospitality and generosity. My grandma remembers his smile and how he was never in a grouchy mood. His love for his grandson and family was so evident. James will be dearly missed.
