The flag at Star Farms is at half-mast today. Jean G. Porter, 95, passed away Aug. 21, 2016, peacefully at her home, Star Farms, from complications of a fall. Widow of Frederick S. Porter Jr., Colonel USAF, Jean grew up in Cornwall-on-Hudson, N.Y., and graduated from Packard School in New York City. She was a volunteer all her married life. She drove for the blind, delivered Meals on Wheels, rang the bell for the Salvation Army, started one of the first Senior groups in Arlington, Va., in the early '60's. She was President of the Arlington, Virginia Woman's Club, the Palos Verdes Estates Woman's Club, and the Paso Robles Women's Club in the year 2000.She was host to foreign students from Spain, Italy, Finland and Japan. Jean enjoyed Bridge. She traveled on all seven Continents and circled the Globe. Jean is survived by her two sons Rick Porter and Dean Porter, two grandchildren Esty Porter and Ean Porter and daughters-in-law Libby and Peggy. Interment, beside her husband, will be in the Cadet Cemetery, United States Military Academy, West Point, N.Y
