June Marie Schanck Penrod

June Marie Penrod, 84, was born Sept. 3, 1931 in Yonkers, NY and passed away Oct. 15, 2015. At the age of 16 June moved to California and married shortly afterwards, raising three children. She was a homemaker and later worked in sales. She lived in several western states finally settling down in a retirement community in Mesa, Arizona. After retiring, she enjoyed visiting many of the states with her husband in her travel trailer. For several year she volunteered at a hospital and the Senior Center. June loved playing card, board games, and Bingo.

In 2014 June moved back to California to live with her daughter due to ill health. For the past 4 months she enjoyed living at the Atascadero Christian Home, making new friends and feeling a sense of extended family. She really enjoyed time with her great-grandchildren. June will be remembered by her family and friends as a kind, compassionate person with a great sense of humor. She will be greatly missed by her 3 children: George, Steven, and Barbara, as well as 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 29, at 1:00 pm at Kuehl-Nicolay Funeral Home, 1703 Spring St., Paso Robles, CA. Pastor Don Maroney will officiate.
