Opal "Allene" (Pounds) Dooley was born on August 24, 1932 on the family farm in Missouri. She was the youngest of William and Telitha Pounds' ten children, of which there were 6 girls and 4 boys. The family moved to Southern California when Allene was a young girl. She met Don Dooley in San Bernardino and they married in December 1956. They had two daughters, Darla Jean (Kim Hughes) and Denise Ann (Dave Hart). After spending time in Grover City/Arroyo Grande, Santa Maria, and Ventura, Don and Allene retired to Paso Robles. Allene was kind, out-spoken, sassy, sweet, straight-forward, generous and full of life. She had a heart of gold and would give anyone who needed it the shirt off her back, asking nothing in return. She loved bingo, bowling, game shows, casinos, wind chimes, playing cards, watching ice skating, the Los Angeles Dodgers, and listening to Neil Diamond, Charlie Pride and Bobby Vinton. Nothing brought Allene more joy than her family, especially her grandchildren - Jonathan Chase and fiancé Amanda Fuller, Jordan Chase, Lawrence Hart and wife Melinda, and Nicol Hart. She had undying love and immeasurable pride for each of them. Grandma and Grandpa were more than happy to attend every possible milestone, athletic event, and activity in which their grandkids participated, and often were the first to arrive and last to leave. As this beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend leaves us to join her siblings and parents in Heaven, we are left with great sadness, but also a tremendous amount of love and wonderful memories of the life we were blessed to share with her.
