Barbara Ann Edgar, 78, of Pataskala, slipped peacefully into the arms of her Savior on Monday, November 17, 2025, at Mount Carmel East Hospital. Born on July 1, 1947, in Zanesville, Ohio, she was the cherished daughter of Roma Jean (Leisure) Wharton, who lovingly survives her, and the late Arthur “Gene” Wharton.
Barbara’s life was a quiet tapestry of devotion—woven with faith, love, and steadfast commitment. For 58 years she walked hand in hand with her beloved husband, Larry Edgar, their marriage grounded in a shared trust in God and a deep affection for one another. Since Larry’s passing in November 2024, Barbara carried his memory tenderly, and we take comfort in knowing that the two are now reunited in eternal peace.
Barbara leaves behind a family who adored her beyond measure: her daughters, Shannon (Jim) Vaughn, Michelle (Mike) Dorsey, and Amy (Chris) Absten; her cherished grandchildren, Bill Rice, Alexis (Trevor) Miller, Chris (Ellie) Absten, Megan (Nick Piper) Dorsey, and Chase Dorsey; and her precious great-grandsons, Rhett and Myles Miller. She is also survived by her dear sister, Brenda (Bud) Davis, her mother Roma Jean, and many nieces and nephews who were held close to her heart.
Throughout her life, Barbara gave of herself with quiet grace. She worked as a hairdresser for many years, later joining the Limited Distribution Center, always bringing kindness and care to those around her. Upon retirement, she stepped fully into the role she treasured most—Nana—devoting her days to the five grandchildren who brought light and laughter to her world. For 30 years she also served faithfully as her church’s secretary and treasurer, offering her gentle spirit, steady hands, and unwavering faith to the congregation she loved.
Barbara will be remembered as a woman of soft wisdom and steady presence—a guiding light for her daughters, a haven of comfort for her grandchildren, and a blessing to everyone who knew her. Her faith was quiet but deep, her love expansive and enduring. She moved through the world with humility, strength, and a heart anchored firmly in God.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at Kauber-Fraley Funeral Home, 289 S. Main St., Pataskala, Ohio, with Pastor Paul Snoddy officiating. Memorial visitation will follow from 5:00–7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Though Barbara has gone ahead, her legacy remains—beautiful, steady, and everlasting. Her love will echo in the lives of those she held dear, a gentle reminder of a life lived with purpose, faith, and grace.
