Betty Josephine Owen, 93, of Pataskala, passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at Licking Memorial Hospital. She was born on October 9, 1924 in Chillicothe, OH, a daughter to the late Corvin and Alma (Gorby) Peters. Betty was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution in 1976- Thomas Gorby, patriot; a member of the Daughters of the War of 1812- John Ogden, patriot and Daughters of the Union Veterans, John S. Peters, Patriot, the Gallia County and Ross County Genealogical Societies, the Tyler County W. Virginia Genealogical and Historical Society, The Archeological Society of Ohio and the Telephone Pioneers. She loved reading, sewing, antiquing, mushroom hunting, gardening forever and housework whenever, but most enjoyed genealogical research of her many family lines, resulting in a complete family history. Betty is survived by her children, Edwin Lewis, Michael John (Venda) Lewis, Peggy Ann (Dennis) Newman, Melanie (Carl) May, Donald Edward (Lea) Owen Jr., James A. (Beth) Owen and Mark A. (Eva) Owen; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her daughter, Rose Marie Lewis and siblings, John Peters, Robert Peters and Katherine Queen. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, September 21, 2018 at KAUBER-FRALEY FUNERAL HOME, 289 S. Main St., Pataskala, OH 43062. Funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home with Rev. L. Cean Wilson and Rev. Edwin Lewis officiating. Interment will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at Londonderry Cemetery.
