Claudia Jean Watson Johnston, age 83, passed away peacefully at her Pickerington home, on Friday, April 16, 2021, after an extended illness, and is now celebrating her eternal life with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Formerly of Monessen, Pennsylvania, she was preceded in death by her parents, Viva Eisley Watson, John Thomas Watson, and beloved Aunt Ora Eisley Bradley. Claudia was born at the Charleroi-Monessen Hospital, Pennsylvania, on April 3, 1938. She was a 1956 graduate of Monessen High school and was employed as a bookkeeper with the former Eisenberg Woman’s Department store until 1965, when she married Thomas Johnston of Donora, PA., husband of 56 Years who survives her. After marriage the couple moved to Bethel Park, PA. Tom’s employment took them to Atlanta Georgia, then to the Columbus, Ohio area in 1975, and settled in Pickerington in 2001, a Columbus suburb. She is also survived by her adoptive daughter Karen Lutz Johnston of Pickerington, Cousin Ralph & (Marylynn Stone), of Charleroi, PA., and her special friend and Maid of Honor Patricia Pettko of Monessen as well as her beloved dogs and sleeping buddy Precious and Penny. Claudia was a 29-year member of First Presbyterian Church of Pataskala. A memorial service will be conducted by the pastor, Reverend Dr. Janet Hufford, on Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at 3PM at the Kauber-Fraley Funeral Home, 289 S. Main Street, Pataskala, Ohio. Visitation will be Monday April 19 from 4-8 PM and Tuesday, 2 PM to 3PM prior to the service. In lieu of flowers contributions to First Presbyterian Church of Pataskala, 405 S. Main St., Pataskala or Ohio Health Hospice Service, Department L3641, Columbus, Ohio 43260 are suggested. Interment will be on Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at the Belle Vernon Pennsylvania Cemetery, at 1000 Broad Ave. Belle Vernon, with a brief service for family and friends in the chapel at approximately 1PM.
