Freda "Fay" Hughes

Freda ‘Fay’ Hughes, 87, of Pataskala, Ohio, passed away Thursday, November 15, 2018. She was born April 6, 1931 in Lincoln Park, MI to the late Wm. Stanley and G. Manon (Charlton) Grogan. Fay married her beloved husband of 65 years, Thomas ‘Jr.’ Hughes, on May 9, 1953 in Calloway County, KY. She dedicated her life to taking care of her family. As a devoted wife and nurturing mother, Fay often sewed outfits and joyfully prepared her big Sunday dinners after church. Some of her favorite times were their many camping trips exploring state parks. Fay’s family will always remember her sweet joyful spirit and find comfort in her devout faith where she is at peace. She was an active member of Jersey Baptist Church and, formerly, Pataskala United Methodist Church, where she served as treasurer, nursery worker and sang in the choir. Fay will be deeply missed by her husband, Thomas ‘Jr.’ Hughes; children, Thomas Wayne (Cathi) Hughes, Gary (Deb) Hughes, Kenneth Hughes, and Sandra (Jerry) Kinser; grandsons, Jon (Vicks) Maynard, Chad (Sonya) Gambill, Jeff (Sheila) Hughes, Ryan and Matthew Pick; granddaughters, Ashley (Joe) Panico and KieuLoan Maynard; brothers, Bill and Gerald (Peggy) Grogan; 12 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and beloved relatives. In addition to her parents, Fay was preceded in death by her brothers, Jack and Max Grogan; grandson, Tim Maynard. Visitation will be 5-8 PM, Monday, Nov. 19, 2018 at KAUBER-FRALEY FUNERAL HOME, 289 S. Main St., Pataskala, OH 43062. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2018 at the funeral home with Pastor Jeffrey Hughes, Fay’s grandson, officiating. A graveside service will follow at Pataskala Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Fay’s honor are suggested to Jersey Baptist Church, 13260 Morse Rd, New Albany, OH 43054.
