Gary Warburton Good

Gary Warburton Good passed away peacefully on August 4th, 2025, at the age of 79 in Granville, Ohio. He was born on July 6th, 1946 to parents Carl M. Good Jr. and Mary J. Good and was raised along with his elder brother, Carl M. Good III (Wendy), in Bloomdale, Ohio.

Gary attended Elmwood High School and graduated from Denison University in 1968 with a Bachelor’s in Chemistry. Gary went on to earn a diploma from The Ohio State University in Chemical Engineering and a MS in Polymer Science from the University of Akron. Gary worked at General Tire, TASC, Battelle and then formed L.R. Good & Son, a company specializing in software development, optimization using the Desirability Methodology, database development and implementation, and statistical analysis.

Gary raised nine children with his wife, Karen Good (Henry). They began their journey together with their children David Good, Margaret “Meg” (Jason Winfree) Good, and Laurie (Greg) Orr. Together, they had Joshua (Jennifer) Good, Gillian Kane, Zachary (Trình Công Dung Hạnh) Good, Hannah (Kevin Dehmer) Good, James Good and Macey Good.

Gary eventually moved to Port Clinton, Ohio to help care for his aging parents until their passing. In Port Clinton, Gary was an active member of Rotary and attended services at St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church. He hosted his annual summer cook out with friends and family at the lake cottage and enjoyed reconnecting with old acquaintances. Gary returned to central Ohio in the last few months of his life to receive care and be closer to family.

Gary loved watching football, especially the Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns, recording the games on his DVR so he could fast forward through the commercials. He was known for his spicy Chinese cooking and enjoyed telling stories and imparting his wealth of knowledge and trivia to anyone who would listen. He wasn’t a particularly sentimental person but loved his family and friends dearly.

Gary is survived by his brother, nine children and 13 grandchildren, Mary “Sophie” and Ida Winfree, Heather Henslee and Breanna Smith, Miranda (Jimmie Cornwell) and Isaiah Good, Kalina and Malachi and Phoenix Kane, Kyle and Quinn Good, and Oliver and Roman Dehmer. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Stephanie Johanna Good and grandson Thor Freedom Saunders.

A celebration of life will be held at 3:00pm Saturday, September 13, 2025, with a gathering to be held prior to the service from 1:00-3:00pm at Kauber-Fraley Funeral Home, 289 S. Main St., Pataskala, OH.
