

Ima Jean Messer, age 76, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio passed away at her residence on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. She was born on November 24, 1948, in Ragland, West Virginia to the late Dorothy and Walter Mahon Sr. Ima worked at the IGA store in Johnstown, as a teacher’s aide at Johnstown Elementary School, and spent several years in the banking and real estate industry. She was a kindhearted, caring, and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Ima was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone, and truly never met a stranger anywhere she went. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Arthur Messer; children, Katie (Dan) Tietz, Daniel (Heidi) Messer, Tammy (Lyle) Dillon, and Terrie (Homer) Berkley; grandchildren, Anastasia (Matthew) Rancourt, Conner Tietz, Chloe (Thomas) McCarver, Daniel Messer II, Ashlee Offenburger, Caleb Offenburger, Christian Berkley, Hadlee Berkley, Marissa Dial, and Reagan Dial; great-grandchildren, Jayden Holstein and Aniken McCarver; brothers, Melvin and Harold (Rosalee) Mahon. In addition to her parents, Ima is preceded in passing by her sister, Vicie Messer; and brothers, Wayne, Walter Jr., and Ernest Mahon. Family and friends may call from 2:00-4:00pm Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Kauber-Fraley Funeral Home, 289 S. Main St., Pataskala, OH 43062. A memorial service is to immediately follow beginning at 4:00pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Ima’s name to your home or local church or to the animal shelter of your choosing.
