James "Jim" Joseph Engle

Jim was a graduate of the 1954 class from Lowell High School. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving during the Korean Conflict. Following his basic training in Bainbridge, Maryland, Jim was stationed in Pensacola, Florida and served a tour in Northern Africa. Jim was the proud owner and operator of Engle Lumber. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing at Broadview Golf Course. Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend, and so much more; he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Carolyn “Carol” Engle; sons, Jim Jr., Bill, Chuck, and Tom (Terri); daughters, Terrie Fowler, Dianne (Craig) and Cheryl (Robbie) Nickel; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Zita Izzo; and a host of other family, friends, and loved ones. In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in passing by his grandson, Jason Engle; many siblings; and daughters-in-law, Velma Engle and Tammy Lesh.

Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Kauber-Fraley Funeral Home, 289 S. Main St., Pataskala, OH 43062. Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at Church of the Ascension, 555 S. Main St., Johnstown, OH 43031, with Father P.J. Brandimarti officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
