Surrounded by the love of her daughters, Janet Marie Paskievitch (Nelson) passed away peacefully on June 14, 2025, at the age of 87. Janet was born on December 22, 1937 in Dexter, OH to the late Earl and Thelma Nelson. She was preceded in death by her adoring husband of 61 years, Joseph Richard Paskievitch, and is survived by her four devoted daughters; Valerie (Terry) Griffith, Deborah (Barry) Braid, Maria Weaver (Mark Pugerude) and Melissa Paskievitch; grandchildren, Grant Griffith, Tara (Dan) Miller, Jay (Kayla) Griffith, Ryan (Jen) Braid, Nathan Braid (Emily Goldfein), Courtney (Matt) Kerster, John Weaver, Gavin (Erin) Weaver, Kayla Timmons; and eight great-grandchildren with another on the way.
Janet had an adventurous spirit and was "on the go" whenever the opportunity presented itself. She set out to see the world after high school and became a stewardess for Frontier Airlines. She left the airlines to marry the love of her life, Joe Paskievitch and together they raised four daughters providing them with a strong foundation of love and support. Never one to settle, Janet pursued her college degree in her early 40s and earned her teaching degree. In retirement, Joe and Janet traveled to Europe, built a beautiful cabin at Burr Oak Lake, and traversed the U.S. in their RV. They loved nature and shared this joy with family through boat rides, fishing, campfires, birdwatching, and walks. Family was the most important thing to both of them. Together, Joe and Janet were always there as an example of commitment and a strong family. They showed up for all the graduations and family events and made every holiday special. Janet always came bearing gifts, never forgetting the many birthdays she kept track of. She lovingly prepared Easter baskets and Christmas stockings for each of her grandchildren, and her greatest joy later in life was having the "the littles" (great-grandchildren) around. Janet was frugal when it came to things for herself, but extremely generous to her family.
She is survived by her loving brother, Keith (Fauna) Nelson; sisters-in-law, Joan Nelson, Anne Paskievitch, Marie Paskievitch and Barbara (Edward) Erdy; and many supportive friends, nieces, and nephews. Preceding Janet in death are sisters Phyllis Johrent, Eloise Diehl and Shirley (Owen) Bobo, brothers Earl Nelson, Jr., Clifford Nelson, Wendell Nelson, Harry Lang Nelson and Raymond Nelson, and brothers-in-law Robert Diehl and Frank Paskievitch.
Her legacy lives on through her family and the countless lives she touched with kindness and strength. Janet is reunited with her beloved Joe and those who have gone before her, leaving behind a life beautifully lived and deeply cherished. Her independent, caring, and spirited need to keep moving will be greatly missed and remembered with love.
Her family will receive friends and family on Sunday, June 22, 2025 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at the Kauber-Fraley Funeral Home, 289 South Main St., Pataskala, Ohio 43062 . A funeral service will take place in the Holy Cross Cemetery Chapel, 11539 National Road SW, Pataskala, Ohio 43062 at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 23, 2025 with interment at the mausoleum.
