John Geyer

John Wayne Geyer passed away June 14, 2025, at his home in Pataskala after suffering from dementia for many years. John was born to the late Jack and Kitty Geyer in Washington D.C. He is also preceded in death by his sister, Donna, on April 8. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Peggy; sister-in-law, Jackie Bonarrigo; nephews, Chris, Mike, and Tony and nieces, Eileen and Beth and their children. John graduated in 1966 from Reynoldsburg HS and OSU in 1970. He became an educator and taught English, Speech, Drama, Creative Writing, and Communications while teaching at Whitehall-Yearling HS, Granville HS, and Columbus State. John was a well-liked, creative, and dynamic teacher. He organized annual trips for the drama students to attend Broadway musicals. John enjoyed playing cards and racquetball. He spent many days playing golf as a 32-year member of Highlands GC in Pataskala. John loved all animals, especially cats who found their way to the house. He found comfort in his final years by watching musicals on TV, especially Rent. The family would like to thank the excellent caregivers, Belle and Barbie and the team from Echo Hospice.
