

John Douglas Hedges, age 66, of Pataskala, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 09, 2026, at St. Ann’s Hospital in Westerville. He was born on April 25, 1960, in Columbus, Ohio to the late William “Bill” and Deanna Hedges.
John was a graduate of the 1978 class from Benjamin Logan High School. He would go on to become an electrician and retired from IBEW 683 after many hardworking years in July of 2020. John loved all things racing and was the first employee of Meyer Shank Racing in Pataskala. He started working in their shop in 1989 and became an instrumental member of the team. In his free time John loved to travel and go on hikes with his wife. John will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
John is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Karen Hedges; sister, Janice (Bruce) Fennig; aunt, Linda (John) Everett and Marlene Frey; many nieces, nephews, and siblings-in-law; and a host of other family, friends, and loved ones. In addition to his parents, John is preceded in passing by his uncles, Dan and Lyle Hedges, and aunt, Phyllis (Ken) Phelps.
Friends and family may gather from 10:00-11:00 am with a funeral mass to follow at 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Church of the Ascension, 555 S Main St, Johnstown, OH 43031, with Father Stephen Ondrey officiating. Immediately following mass, John will be laid to rest at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Johnstown.
