

John Lawrence Howell Jr., age 80, of Baltimore, Ohio passed away on Friday, November 14, 2025, in Columbus, Ohio, surrounded by family and loved ones. He was born on June 7, 1945, in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Comala and John Lawrence Howell Sr. John was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving from September 1967 to June 1970 as an aerial photographer. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, and friend, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. John was a lifetime member of the American Motorcycle Association, and considered himself a backyard mechanic working on his beloved muscle cars of the 19050’s and 19060’s. He also had a passion for trains and railroads and enjoyed working with his son at the Ohio Railway Museum. John is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Toni Howell; children, Jeffrey (Lori), Christopher, and Shelley (Michelle Trunick) Howell; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of other family, friends, and loved ones. In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his son, David Howell. Family and friends may gather from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Kauber-Fraley Funeral Home, 289 S. Main St., Pataskala, OH, 43062. A funeral service is to follow at 12:00 pm at the funeral home, with Pastor Bret Rizzo officating. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday at Floral Hills Memory Gardens, 351 Coonpath Rd NE, Lancaster, OH 43130.
