

Lawrence Edward Bitler, 82, of Pataskala, Ohio passed away Sunday, October 8, 2023. He was born November 7, 1940 in Lancaster, Ohio to the late Beatrice “Bea” and Levi Bitler. Lawrence was a proud veteran of the United States Army and Air National Guard, where he served as a mechanic. After his time in the service, he went on and eventually retired as a mechanic for the City of Westerville. Lawrence was an avid NASCAR, Washington Redskins, and Penn State fan. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Barbara Bitler; children, Rich (Debra) Bitler, Brian (Terri) Bitler, Tammy (Bob) Thiel, and Chris (Chelsea) Bitler; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Hartman and Peggy Snider; sister-in-law, Mary Bitler; and a host of other family, friends, and loved ones. In addition to his parents, Lawrence is preceded in death by his daughter, Shelly Harless; brothers, Levi “Buddy” Bitler, Jack (Barb) Bitler, and Bill Bitler; and brother-in-law Dan Hartman. A memorial gathering will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Monday, November 6, 2023 at Kauber-Fraley Funeral Home 289 S. Main St., Pataskala, OH 43062. A memorial service is to immediately follow the gathering, with Jill Dunlap officiating.
