Born on September 2, 1932, to Salvatore and Lucia Pietrantano, Mary was raised with deep family values, strong faith, and a love for her community. A proud graduate of Holy Family High School, Mary went on to build a beautiful life with her husband of 66 years, Richard Patton.
Mary dedicated many years of service to the Chessie System railroad, where she later retired. Her leadership and warm spirit were evident in her role as chairwoman of numerous Chessie System national bowling and golf tournaments.
Deeply involved in her community, Mary was a devoted member of the Elk’s Columbus Lodge #37 Ladies Auxiliary. Alongside Richard, she took great pride in chairing the Elkteens youth group, mentoring young people through community service and annual trips to Camp Perry.
Mary’s faith was the foundation of her life. A faithful member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, she served as a greeter, sang in the funeral choir, and volunteered by helping to prepare thousands of cabbage rolls for the annual Seton Festival.
Mary was a gifted quilter whose quilts won numerous blue ribbons at area quilt shows. Mary took great delight in giving away her beautiful quilts to family, friends, and charities. Mary enjoyed many quilt retreats with her daughter Carla and friends Beverly Harrison and Pat Chambers.
Above all, Mary’s greatest joy was her family. She is the proud and loving mother of Carla Steele, Susan (Steve) Carr, Samuel Patton, and Richard (Carol) Patton Jr. She leaves behind a lasting legacy through her 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, sister Theresa Sears and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary is now reunited in eternal peace with her husband Richard, her parents Salvatore and Lucia Pietrantano, her sisters Jenny Quigley and Rosa Giammarco, her brother Danny Pietrantano, and her daughter-in-law Kathy Patton.
