Nancy Marie Stires

Nancy Marie Stires, 74, of Pataskala, passed away on February 26, 2015 and is finally in the arms of Jesus. She was born on July 12, 1940 in Gallipolis, OH, a daughter to the late William and Cora (Fellure) Thivener. Nancy is also preceded in death by her infant twin sons, Brandon and Brian Matthew Stires; sister, Betty Alexander; brother, Justice “Junior” Harlan and Special friend of the family, Keith A. Jacobs. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Rev. Gary Stires; children, Timothy Stires (Michael Chad Gittings) and Kathleen (Rodney) Ayres; grandchildren, Daniel Krause, Megan Krause (Marisa Moraleja) and Eric Strubhar; great-grandchildren, Landen Krause, Lakota Krause and Liam Krause-Moraleja; siblings, Phyllis (Tom) McCullough, Eugene “Gene” (Barbara) Thivener, Glen Thivener, James “Jimmy” Thivener, Norman (Bernie) Thivener and Donna (John) Wilkes and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Nancy served 7 years at Shift Shoe Corporation of America as an Accountant and Bookkeeper. She was a sunday school teacher, song leader, soloist and also organized all the plays at Columbia Center Community Church and was involved in the building fund with her husband Rev. Gary Stires. Nancy was also involved in the building of the new Columbia Center Community Church. Rev. Gary and Nancy were led by God to go out and start a new church in Summit Station, OH which became Freedom Gospel Assembly. There she served as a secretary, leader of the woman’s group, Sunday school teacher, director of missionary outreach program, music director, running the sound system and director of the play programs. She was behind her husband as Pastor for 15 years of service until his retirement. The Church has now become New Life Missionary Church. A special thanks and love goes to her personal caregiver and friend, Meki Wyant. Special thanks to Mount Carmel Hospice and their nurses for their care. Memorial contributions may be made to Mount Carmel Hospice or Pataskala Church of the Nazarene in Nancy’s memory. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, March 1, 2015 at CROUSE-KAUBER-FRALEY FUNERAL HOME, 289 S. Main St., Pataskala, OH 43062. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home with Rev. Gary Reiss officiating. Interment will follow at Pataskala Cemetery. Friends and family are welcome to celebrate Nancy’s life with food and refreshments at the Pataskala Church of the Nazarene following the interment.
