

Ralph R. (Rick) Rieser, 83 of Pataskala, OH, passed away peacefully at home on September 3, 2025. Born in Columbus OH, on December 5, 1941, to the late Ralph F. Rieser and Cleo Hall Rieser. Survived by his wife of almost 62 years, Rosemary (Rosie Capuano) Rieser, his children Mark (Wendy) Rieser, Daniel Rieser, Susan Martin. Five grandchildren, Angelo Rieser, Azia Martin (James White), Marianna Rieser, Victor Rieser, Eve Rieser. Great grandchildren, Dallas Heath, Kane Rieser, Ace Rieser. Also survived by stepmother, Jean Rieser, sisters, Sandy (Andy Chapella) Rieser, Debbie (Mike) DelCol, Kim Moore, Amy (Brad) Barker, Michelle (John) Bajorek. Many cousins, nieces and nephews, and wonderful friends and neighbors who listened to his “years ago…...” stories many times. He was a lifelong fisherman where no fishing hole was ever too far away to catch the big one. A 1959 graduate of Bishop Watterson High School, Attended Ohio State University and St. Charles Seminary. Retired from Capitol Manufacturing Co., after working 40 years in Sales. He was known as “straight arrow” for his genuine, straight forward, truthful and honest way of doing business. Volunteered 20 years for Voice Corps (Central Ohio Radio Reading Service), St. Vincent dePaul Food Pantry in Newark, seventeen years as a patient companion for Ohio’s Hospice of Central Ohio in Newark. In 2020 he was awarded the Selma Markowitz Lifetime Achievement Award for outstanding service and dedication to the fulfillment of the Hospice mission. He participated in many activities at Church of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church in ground maintenance, high school religion teacher, Men’s club, Super Bowl Sunday, Fish Frys, festivals (beer stand), Eucharistic Minister. Currently a member of St. Edward Catholic Church, Granville, where he served as Eucharistic Minister, Homebound Ministry, and fish fry chairman. A special thank you to the hospice care team of nurses, aides, social workers and chaplains. Family and friends will gather Thursday, 4 p.m., to 8 p.m., at the Kauber-Fraley Funeral Home, 289 S. Main St., Pataskala, Ohio 43062. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m., on September 19, 2025 at St. Edward Catholic Church, 785 Newark Granville Road. A luncheon will follow in the church social hall.
