OBITUARY
Raymond Swearingen Jr.
February 1, 1940 – November 20, 2019
H. Raymond Swearingen, Jr., 79, passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2019 in Columbus, Ohio. He was born February 1, 1940 in Bellaire, Ohio to the late H. Raymond and Anne (August) Swearingen. Ray is survived by his wife of 58 years, Karen (Thompson) Swearingen; sons, Brad (Toni), Mike (Amy) and Matt (Gina) Swearingen; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Ray graduated from Martins Ferry High School in 1958 and DeVry University. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1958 to 1961, Semper Fi. Ray was a member of the American Legion and a lifetime member of the NRA. He was an expert woodworker who could make or repair anything. A private graveside service will be held at Pataskala Cemetery. A Celebration of Ray’s Life will begin at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Etna United Methodist Church in Etna, Ohio for all family and friends with Rev. Dr. Stephen Swisher as celebrant. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ray’s honor are suggested to Wounded Warrior Project, www.woundedwarriorproject.org, or to American Diabetes Association, www.diabetes.org .
