Roland B. Jones

Roland Bruce Jones, age 79, passed away unexpectantly Friday, September 7, 2018. Roland was born in Columbus, Ohio on November 13, 1938 to the late Bruce and Lulu (Petzinger) Jones. Preceded in death by his wife, Carol (Padgett) Jones on April 20, 1979; wife, Saundra (Burkey-Beer) Jones on August 28, 2018, and son-in-law, Mark Perry in 1991. Roland was survived by his children, Kim (Steve) Casto, Karla Perry-Highman, Paula Drake (Brian Cashman), Chris Jones and stepchildren, Robin (Debbie Jo) Beer & Marianne (Chad) Ruwe. Roland leaves behind many grandchildren who adored his spunky humor and affection: Celeste (Doug), Hannah (Jarred) & Oliva Casto; Bryce (Gina) & Mason Highman; Alex, Mitchell & Elaine Drake; Jonathan Beer; Caroline, Emily & Ethan Ruwe; Nate, Sara & Matt Cashman. Roland graduated from Bexley High School in 1959. It was an honor for Roland to work for George J. Igel & Company as an Operating Engineer for 40 years. Dad had a genuine love for his family, friends, “Courtright Kids,” Amish friends, Tamiami Village snowbirds, as well as travel, adventure, train collecting & OSU Buckeyes. Dad’s giving spirit and ability to light-up a room will not be forgotten. Even after his heavenly departure, Dad’s magic lingers and energy will always be felt. A celebration of Roland’s life will be held on Sunday, September 23rd at Etna United Methodist Church – Etna, Ohio. Calling hours (with light meal): 2:30pm – 4:30pm & Memorial Service: 4:30pm. We only knew each 12yrs or so, but so many Great memories, camping, fireworks, amish trips, ice cream, pizza, you always knew where to go. Meet up with Steve , Brenda, Debbie & Sonnie & have a Peace trip. Prayers all the Family

To all of Roland and Sonnie's families and friends, we were devastated to hear of your loss. We met them many years ago thru Roland's aunt and uncle, Bob and Ginny Rieth. We have all shared many good times. Such good people!!
