Ronald Gene Moore, 83 went home to be with the Lord and reunite with the love of his life on Friday, May 30, 2025. Ron was an incredible man who lived a full life in his 83 years. He was a beloved husband, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was a man of few sentimental words and a little rough around the edges but his heart was truly made of gold, even without words, could make you feel loved. He would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. He was also one of the hardest working men to have ever lived, his rough and calloused hands were proof of that. Ron was employed at Western Electric/AT&T for over 30 years where he made countless lifelong friends. He was also a volunteer police officer, president of the union, had his pilot’s license, drove semis and could build and fix just about anything. A true jack of all trades.
Ron will be fondly remembered for his love of fishing, hunting, raising a vegetable garden, long conversations, and love for his family. He and his late wife Joyce loved to fish together, creating memories with trips all over the country. Spending time relaxing and fishing at Lake Erie and looking forward to visits from his daughter and grandkids was always a highlight of the summer months. In the wintertime you could catch him in a deer stand – which as he got older morphed into a deer trailer where he could stay warm. When deer season ended, he would quickly get to Florida for the rest of the winter, a true snowbird. He loved to chat with his family and friends, everyone knew that once he got started, it was hard to get him to stop. Chatting about everything from life stories, financial investments, politics, religion, he knew it all. His most cherished titles were husband, daddy and papaw. Even with the rough around the edges exterior, being surrounded by a wife, daughter and three granddaughters, they were often able to bring out his soft side in special moments others didn’t get a chance to see.
Some of the things family members will miss most about him will be his ornery laugh, the sweet way he replied to an I love you with a back pat and an “I love you too baby” in the sweetest voice. Though his hands were rough and showed the hard work he had put in over the years, he still had the gentlest touch. Shoot-‘em-up bang bangs, as he liked to call them, are another fond memory. He could watch the same ones over and over again reacting with excitement or laughter like it was the first time he’d seen it, such a simple pleasure. His family will miss the guidance, strong love and support that will leave a lasting hole in the hearts of those closest to him. Some things that he passed on that will continue in future generations are his love of diet coke, soup beans and fried taters, corn bread and milk, fishing and a strong work ethic.
Ronald is survived by his daughter Teresa (Greg) Livingston, granddaughters, Samantha (Travis) Yocum, Kaitlan (Nicholas) Merz, Tayler (Dylan) Salyers, great-grandchildren, Cameron Merz and Addalynne Merz, brothers Dabney McClellan, Charles McClellan and Royce McClellan, with many nieces, nephews and beloved friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Joyce Moore, his father Earsel Moore, mother Hattie McClellan, sister Joyce Ann Perry, brothers Ray McClellan and Taylor Moore. While we miss him here on earth, we know the reunion with the love of his life, Joyce, was such an unbelievably joyous celebration.
