Saundra Kay (Sonnie) Jones passed peacefully from this earth into the loving arms of her Savior Jesus Christ with Rob and Debbie Jo Beer, Marianne Beer Ruwe and close friend Barb Jenkins at her side on August 28, 2018 having finished her work here on earth. The daughter of Forrest and Emma Louise Burkey, Sonnie was born on November 28, 1943 in Columbus, OH. After the premature passing of Sonnie’s father, Emma Louise married Roland (Tootsie) Warner and she was raised in Columbus, Ohio. Sonnie was an outstanding student, Senior Class Secretary, made Queen Court and the Homecoming Court at Linden McKinley High School; she graduated in January 1962 and married Earl Eugene (Gene) Beer on February 24th, 1962 in Columbus, Ohio.

In 1962 son Robin William was born and in 1965 daughter Marianne Kay was born. Sonnie was tremendously and immensely proud of her children leaving her legacy of compassion, kindness and humility to live on in them. On July 1, 1983 Sonnie married Roland B. Jones and made a new home in Pickerington, OH. In retirement, Sonnie and Roland enjoyed wintering in Fort Myers, Florida for over 14 years.

Sonnie was a faithful child of God, daughter, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, wife, passionate librarian, avid Ohio State Buckeye fan, and phenomenal housewife. She made her house a home and welcomed all. Likewise, God has welcomed her to her Heavenly home, “In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. John 14:2. Sonnie had church homes in Pataskala, Ohio and in Fort Myers, Florida. Sonnie loved reading her daily devotionals and prayed privately and faithfully.

Sonnie was a long-time member and active participant in Moms Club and Card Club. Known for her talent for organizational skills and tireless work ethic, Sonnie was an accomplished librarian. As the long-time librarian and informal “counselor” at Etna Elementary, she positively influenced many lives of the children with whom she interacted leaving fond memories of her as they have grown into adults. Sonnie continued to volunteer and work at Etna Elementary long into retirement.

Survived by husband, Roland (Pickerington), brother William (Theresa) Warner of Baltimore, OH, son Robin William Beer (Debbie Jo) of Galloway, OH and grandson Jonathan of Pickerington, OH, daughter, Marianne Kay (Chad) Ruwe, grandchildren, Caroline, Emily, and Ethan of Edina, MN. Nephews Darren (Chanda) Burkey, Ryan Warner, Matthew (Evann) Martin, niece Dawn (Darryl) Burkey Becker and step-children Kim (Steve) Casto, Karla Highman, Paula Drake, Chris Jones, and step-grandchildren, Bryce, Mason, Celeste, Hannah, Olivia, Alex, Mitchell, and Elaine.

Grandma Z-Z, as Sonnie was called by her grandchildren, will be dearly missed but remembered fondly and lovingly. Sonnie was known for her kind heart, sweet personality, and generosity. In her passing, Sonnie has donated several organs to sustain hope and lengthen the lives of others.

I am deeply saddened to hear of Sonnie’s passing. I worked in the Watkins Middle School library at the time that Sonnie worked at Etna Elementary. My life was blessed for knowing her. She was soft-spoken , beautiful inside and out! I never saw her without a smile on her face and she was one of the most kind people I have ever met! To her family, I am so sorry for your loss. I know this will be a huge void in your lives as it will be in the lives of all who knew her!

We love you so much ZZ! Thank you for always keeping us laughing and smiling. You were always so thoughtful and considerate of others, and that trait will live on with us through my mom. You are so deeply missed already, but it is the greatest comfort to know that we will be together again with you and God.
Love you always, your pumpkin doodle ❤️❤️❤️

ZZ- I have countless memories with you that I am so grateful for. I can cherish these for the rest of my life. Especially when you let me stay up and watch soap operas with you. I'll never forget all of the laughs we shared. I also still love the smell of Design perfume because of you! I can only hope that I can have half the amount of kindness that you had. You were an angel on earth but now you have gone home to Heaven. I'll miss you constantly but I know I will see you again someday. Love, Sweet Pea

ZZ, thanks for being a super Grandma ZZ for me, Caroline, and Emily. We will always remember you for being happy and goofing around with us. We will never forget our nicknames that you gave us (even if we were to try...... :-) We are lucky to have come and seen you while you were resting at Riverside. We will always remember the warmth of your hands and your squeezing our hands as we held yours. We know you could hear us praying with you and reading some devotions. We will always miss you but know we will see you soon enough again. Love Ethan (Caroline and Emily)

Chad, Marianne, Caroline, Emily, Ethan and extended family-- we are sorry for your loss of Sonnie here on earth. Many of your friends and family have you lifted up in prayers. Thankfully, we can be certain in God's grace and salvation --for all who believe and are baptized ---that Sonnie is sitting with all the angels and saints in her heavenly family. We will miss Sonnie, a good and faithful servant of God. Sincerely, Guy, Gereese and Matt Ruwe Matthew 11:28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

Sonnie was my second mom. My mother-in-law was immensely caring, giving, thoughtful and faithful. She encouraged Marianne and I in our faith, in our marriage and health. She was always looking out for us as a couple and as a family. What a blessing she was in our life. Her finest qualities live on in my wife, Marianne, so I can NEVER, EVER forget Sonnie. That is a good thing. We think of Sonnie daily and and fondly remember her. Just at the Minnesota State Fair this past Saturday night we honored her memory by picking up a conversation with a young couple sitting at the park bench with us...........We pointed to Heaven and said, "Sonnie, this is for you!" She is in Heaven living peacefully and working with God to prepare a place for us! What a great place it will be too. We love you so much and miss you............but we are joyful in the peace that you have found. It is the greatest and truthfully the only comfort for us as we are selfish in wanting you to still be her with us.
