

Scott Leo Stonerook, 42, of Hopewell, Ohio formerly of Pataskala, Ohio passed away Monday, February 3, 2025, at the Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio after his courageous four-month battle with cancer. He was born on October 2, 1982, in Newark, Ohio to Mona Lisa Stonerook and to the late Robert Blair Stonerook. Scott served as a corrections officer at the Muskingum County Juvenile Detention Center where he positively impacted many young lives, leaving a lasting legacy of guidance and support. Those that knew Scott, knew he was a gentle soul, a free spirit, deeply patriotic, lighthearted, an avid outdoorsman, and a friend to all he met. He was a wanderer but was never lost. Family and friends were held closest to Scott’s heart, and he especially loved to spend time with his brother Kyle, and nephew Colt. In his free time, Scott had a passion for traveling out west, guns, and immersing himself in nature. He loved foraging for mushrooms, hiking, hunting, and fishing. Scott dedicated much of his time to exploring the great outdoors. He embarked on road trips to visit historical sites and national parks, and he also enjoyed traveling to the coast and beaches.
Scott is survived by his beloved mother, Mona Stonerook; brother, Kyle (Tara) Stonerook; nieces and nephews, Colt (Payton) Stonerook and Raven (Justin) Monst, and Park, Seth, and Taylor Stonerook; great-nieces, Madison, Maggie, Avery, and great-nephew Airius; special friends, Josh (Carrie) Flegle and Shawn (Meredith) Edwards; best furry friend, Bisky; and a host of other family, friends, and loved ones. In addition to his father Robert Stonerook, Scott is preceded in passing by his brother, Brian Shane Stonerook; his maternal and paternal grandparents; and great-niece Adelyn. A visitation for Scott will be held Friday, February 7, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Kauber-Fraley Funeral Home, 289 S. Main Street, Pataskala, Ohio 43062, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM. Scott will be laid to rest in Glen Rest Memorial Estate, 8029 E Main St, Reynoldsburg, Ohio 43068.
