ERDMAN, WILLIAM E., 96, passed away Tuesday, July 20 in Creve Coeur, MO. He was born in North Monroeville, OH, August 15, 1924, the son of William Bernhard and Amelia Marie (Ries) Erdman. He served as a cryptographer in the Army Air Corps at 3 air bases in England, and graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in agronomy. After teaching high school in Edon, OH, he worked in agribusiness for the Davison Chemical Co., later absorbed into W. R. Grace & Co. As Bill advanced, his sales and management career moved through Greenville, OH, Columbus, OH, Lansing, MI, and New Albany, IN. He was active as a teacher, leader, and choir member at North Community Lutheran (Worthington, OH), Bethlehem Lutheran (Lansing, MI), Resurrection Lutheran and First Lutheran (Louisville, KY). After retirement, he was the coordinator for the downtown Louisville Lutheran food pantry, one of many charities and volunteer causes he served. His kind heart, good nature, and work ethic touched many lives.
He is survived by a son, Rev. James Erdman (Johanna); four grandchildren: Kerala (A. J.) Montanio, Annika (Joseph) Bartek, Karsten (Karianne) and Erik (Alexandra) Erdman, and six great-grandchildren: Graham, Leon, Reid, Emelia, Sloane, and Kaia. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years Elizabeth (Dunbar), his daughter Kathy Ann (Frank) Lawson, his two sisters, Eileen (Donald) Davis and Ruth (Lloyd) Deitz.
His visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 am with a service immediately following, Monday, August 2, 2021 at Kauber-Fraley Funeral Home, 289 S. Main Street, Pataskala, OH 43062.
Burial will be 1:00 pm, Monday, August 2 at Kingwood Memorial Park in Lewis Center, OH.
