Arvella Lou Cook

Arvella Lou (Cannon) Cook was born in Payette, Idaho on October 2, 1948. She went to be with her Savior on December 17, 2017. She passed away in St. Luke’s Hospital with her loving brother present. She had suffered for many months from a chronic lung disease.

Arvella grew up in Payette, and graduated from Payette High School in 1968. She graduated from Payette Beauty School in 1970. She lived and worked in Grangeville, Idaho from 1971 until 1979. She then moved to Boise to work where she met the love of her life, Arthur Cook. They were married in 1980. She moved with her husband to Basque, Oregon where she lived until 1994. Arvella and her husband then moved to Ontario, Oregon for 19 years. At this time, she moved back to her home town of Payette, where she resided at the time of her passing.

She spent many years doing the Lord’s work. She loved working with children and dedicated 23 years working in the nursery. She also taught Sunday school and Bible School. She loved her church, Payette Church of the Nazarene, and gave many years of faithful service. Arvella was co-owner of C & C Dusty House Ceramics in Payette and this was one of her big joys in life. She had many hobbies. She was very talented in many craft areas. One of her greatest talents was crocheting. She made beautiful tablecloths that she also designed.

Arvella is survived by her husband of 38 years, Arthur; her brother, Morley D. Cannon of Payette; Nickie Cannon of Grangeville, Idaho; a niece and husband, Pamela and Rob Mead; a great-niece and great nephew and family all of Lewiston, Idaho. She is preceded in death by her father, Morley H. Cannon and her mother, Mrytel Cannon Lucas.

Celebration of Life will be Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Payette Church of the Nazarene, 1980 7th Ave. N, Payette. Cremation was under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette. Condolences may be made to Arvella’s family at www.shaffer-jensenchapel.com.
