Linda R Fanning

Heaven gained one tough lady Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018. Linda Rae (Waits) Fanning, 78, of Payette, ID, gave it a good try but was just too tired to win this last battle. She was surrounded by family as she left us to join her loved ones who went before her. Linda was born May 7, 1940, to Raymond and Evelyn (Moss) Waits. She attended school in Boise.

Linda married Bill Malone in 1956. They had three children, Rick, Debbie and David. Her heart was broken when she lost Bill in 1968 in Seattle, WA. In 1975 in Pierce, ID, she met and later married Francis “Bubs” Fanning. They enjoyed many fun adventures together, camping and trips to the Oregon Coast being their favorite.

Linda had a great love of water, and enjoyed her morning swim aerobics with her very special “swim ladies” for over 30 years. She also enjoyed the pool league that she played on and looked forward to Thursday nights with the gals!

Linda loved people and enjoyed her time tending bar in Pierce and Payette. She also enjoyed her days as a checker at Albertsons in Payette and getting to visit with all of her customers.

Linda was preceded in death by her first husband Bill Malone; her son, Rick Malone; mother Evelyn, father Raymond; siblings Phyllis, Doris and Jerry. She is survived by husband Francis “Bubs” Fanning; daughter Debbie (Ed) Maki; son David (Kaylene) Malone; grandchildren Lindsay Maki (Josh) Steiner, Luke (Meghan) Maki, Rachael Malone (Trent) Daugherty, Ashley Malone, Rena Malone and Leigh Malone; 11 great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, and two more much – anticipated great granddaughters arriving very soon.

A service will be planned for later this spring. Details will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, Linda had requested that donations be made, c/o Shaffer-Jensen Chapel, P.O. Box 730, Payette, ID 83661 to the Payette City Pool, where she spent many hours with her special friends.
