Benny was born in Birmingham, Alabama, to the late Bernard Ray Sturm Sr. and E. Polyanna Sturm. Benny is survived by his wife of 51 years, Diane Sturm; their two sons Todd Sturm and Brent Sturm (Leah); and his grandson Ethan Sturm.
A devoted Georgia Bulldog football fan, Benny held season tickets for more than 50 years and spent most of his fall Saturdays in Athens with family, cheering on his favorite team. Benny was well loved by his family, but especially so by his grandson, with whom he shared a love of football and racing. Benny will be missed by his family and all those who know and love him.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Monday, August 31, 2026 at 1:00pm at Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home in Peachtree City, GA. A service will follow at 2:00pm at Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home.
Immediate family will then proceed to Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, in College Park, GA, for interment.
