Charles Lawrence Hannah, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend passed away peacefully on June 29, 2020 at the age of 88, at his home in Peachtree City, GA.
Charlie, as he was known to many, was born on May 17, 1932, in Huntington, WV to Jack and Mary Hannah. After serving our country in the Army, he worked as a Production Manager for Owens-Illinois. Charlie married Edith, his loving wife of 65 years, on April 10, 1955. They raised one son, Matthew Owen Hannah.
Charlie was a devout Christian and will be remembered by his wittiness, always having the right thing to say, or the perfect joke to lighten up the room. Charlie was interested in lighthouses, birdwatching from his comfy reclining chair, his famous Sunday breakfast featuring homemade biscuits and always filling the room with joy, smiles, warmth, and hugs.
Charlie was preceded in death by his father, Jack; his mother, Mary; his brothers, James, Joseph, and JB (Jack Black); his sisters, Anna Mae and Edana.
He is survived by his wife Edith, his son Matthew (Shelley), his two grandchildren, Charlene (Gavin) and Robert; and his great-grandson,Theodore; along with many other family and friends who had the joy of meeting him.
His family will receive visitors at Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home & Crematory on Thursday, July 2, 2020 from 5:00pm-8:00pm.
