Mrs. Constance Marion Evans, 97, of Jacksonville, FL passed away with peace and grace on July 24, 2021 surrounded by her loved ones. Constance or “Connie”, as everyone knew her by, was born in Atlanta, GA on September 20, 1923, to Forrest and Bernice Strickland. Connie was the oldest of 9 children.
Connie was devoted in her Christian faith. She loved to listen and watch Billy Graham preaching on the television. She loved spending time with her family. She never met a stranger and could talk the day away. Connie loved to talk on the phone and would say that was how she could stay in touch with all her friends and family. She looked forward to her trips out to eat and shopping.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James D. Evans; son, Emmett Stephen Flippin, Jr.; and 4 siblings.
Connie is survived by her daughter, Bernice Hoff; grandchildren, Aubrey “Van” Suttles, Deborah Bernice Dennard, Tiffany Marie Dreher, and Bryan David Hoff; 3 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; brothers, Howell Strickland and Daniel Strickland; and sister, Angela Byrd and Rachel Bishop.
The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 29 at Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home, 135 Senoia Road, Peachtree City. The funeral service will follow visitation at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at 2:00 p.m. in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, 722 Conley Road, Forest Park.
