Dewey was born March 6, 1958 in Asheville, NC to his parents Dewey Reed Worley, Sr. and Catherine May Whitaker Worley.
As a kid, Dewey had the dream to work at Disney World. After he graduated from A.C. Reynolds High School in Asheville, NC. Dewey headed to Orlando, FL where he resided for almost 40 years. Dewey moved to the Atlanta area in 2015 to be closer to his kids.
In 1989, Dewey met and ultimately married Teresa Wilkinson Worley. The couple had 3 beautiful children Lauren Christina, Hunter Reed and Logan Dewey. Dewey loved his kids more than anything. He was happiest when he was spending time with them whether it was watching them play sports, simply watching a movie or just talking to them on the phone or hanging out.
Dewey owned and operated Amusement Game, Inc. He had game machines in game rooms, restaurants, and movie theaters throughout Orlando. There was nothing he liked more than watching his kids enjoy the game rooms. Dewey always took an interest in food. During his lifetime he briefly owned and operated two restaurants O’Scarletts and Knuckleheads Pizza.
Dewey had a passion for many sports but especially loved any type of racing. He grew up around racetracks because his father raced cars. Unfortunately, his father died due to a racing accident. However, this did not deter his love of the sport. Dewey loved taking his kids to the racetrack and introducing them to old friends of the family. The kids have a lot of good memories with their Dad at the racetrack.
Dewey was very outgoing and was always willing to talk. He loved to go out for a good dinner. Unfortunately, Dewey was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2005 at the age of 48 years old. While the disease gradually affected Dewey over the years, he was always able to find humor in his situation and make others laugh. With all the barriers he had, it never stopped him from coming up with ideas for his next business venture.
Dewey is survived in death by his ex-wife, Teresa Wilkinson Worley; his daughter, Lauren Christina Trahe (Nick); his sons, Hunter Reed Worley and Logan Dewey Worley; and his sister, Catherine Worley McKelheer (Patrick).
Dewey was preceded in death by his mother, Catherine May Worley; his father, Dewey Reed Worley, Sr.; and his baby brother, James Dewey Worley.
Dewey will be cremated on September 21, 2021. His ashes will be spread at various locations in Asheville, NC and Orlando, FL in a future date to be determined.
At this time, the family gracefully declines all flowers and donations. Instead, they gratefully accept all prayers, condolences, and fond memories and expressions of sympathy be shared with the family at www.carmichaelhemperleypeachtree.com.
