Doris Black West, age 84 of Tyrone, GA passed away Thursday, July 19, 2012 of a heart attack. Mrs. West was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, John Eugene “Gene” West. Mrs. West is survived by her sister, Dorothy Carroll of Fairburn; brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Margaret Black of Newnan; three nieces, Jerry and Cecilia Cater of McDonough, Russell and Audrey Hawkinson of Cartersville, and Darlene and Lee Bishop of Newnan; one nephew, Terry and Elisa Black of Newnan. Mrs. Doris West retired from the Federal Reserve Bank and was a long time member of Southside Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, July 23, 2012 at 11:00 am in the chapel at Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home in Peachtree City with Chaplain Matthew Alexander officiating. Interment will follow at Shadnor Baptist Church Cemetery in Union City. Friends may visit the family on Sunday, July 22, 2012 from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm at the funeral home.
