Edward Lee Garner

Edward “Ed” Lee Garner, 81, of Newnan, GA passed away on June 2, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. He was born at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, GA to Leroy and Lola Mae Garner on January 26, 1945.

Ed married Kay Davis on November 26, 1965, and they were married for forty-three glorious years, until her passing in 2010.

Ed grew up in the Church of Christ where he taught classes and served as a deacon for many years. He loved trout fishing in the North Georgia Mountains. He would not eat fish, but he loved to catch them, and he would generously share his catch. He worked for Coca-Cola for 29 years, finally as an Advanced Salesman, where he won many awards as “Salesman of the Month”. He was able to talk to anyone. He was not shy about approaching new people, throwing up his hand, and saying, “Ed Garner’s my name.” He loved his family and his grandkids lovingly called him “Dado.” He missed his wife terribly and now is reunited with her.

Ed is preceded in death by his wife, Kay Davis Garner; parents, Leroy and Lola Mae Garner; and siblings, Floyd Garner, June Yancey, and Bud Garner.

Ed is survived by his children, Andy Garner (Janet), Angie Bailey (Butch), and Eddie Trimble (Virginia); grandchildren, Drew Garner (Casey), Chad Garner, Jessi Garner, Landon Bailey, and Kamren Trimble; he also leaves behind many nieces and nephews to cherish his memory.

A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 11:00am in the Chapel at Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home & Crematory, 135 Senoia Road, Peachtree City, GA 30269. A Visitation will be held from 10:00am-11:00am.

He sponsored Chinese orphans for many years, and he was clear about not wanting any plants or flowers at his funeral.
