Ernest Charles Menet, Jr. was born to Ernest and Alyce Menet in Chicago, Illinois on January 10, 1945. Just as his father before him, Ernie honorably served in the United States Marine Corps from June 1963 to June 1967. Following his honorable discharge, Ernie married the love of his life, Miss Judy Ross. Shortly thereafter, he began his long and successful career in the airline industry. He would start with Ohio Valley Aviation as an aircraft mechanic. In 1970, he began working for Delta Airlines in Los Angeles, California as a line maintenance mechanic. In 1973, he and his family moved to Dallas, Texas where he would eventually promote from line maintenance mechanic, to lead mechanic, foreman and eventually to assistant general foreman, line maintenance. In 1987, he relocated his family to Atlanta, where he completed his 32-year career as General Manager of Safety in the Technical Operations Division. Ernie is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 51 years, Judy; his daughters Julie Ross and Nicole McBride, along with her husband Sean, and their sons, and Ernie's two favorite boys, Alex and Max McBride. He leaves, also, his brother Rob and his wife Barbara, and their daughters Jessica Russell and Meghan Gentry. Ernie loved God, family and country. He loved his church and his church family. He was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. He continued to serve his country through the Marine Corps League. Ernie's love of travel, sparked through his years with Delta, took him and Judy throughout most of Europe by land, air and sea. (Rick Steves would be jealous of the trips he planned!) Ernie also loved his Harley-Davidson motorcycle along with his long road trips with his buddies. He is, and will continue to be, greatly missed. This, in and of itself, serves as testimony to the many lives he has so greatly touched. A visitation will be held at Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home in Peachtree City, GA from 12:00pm until 2:00pm on Monday, October 8, 2018. Funeral Services will follow at 2:00pm, with Stan Butt officiating the service. There will be a presentation made by the Marine Corps League for Fallen Marines prior to the service starting. Interment will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan, GA at 11:30am on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 with United States Marine Corps Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ernie's memory to the China Mission through Peachtree City Church of Christ. Family and friends are invited to Ernie and Judy's home following the service on Monday.
