Etheleen Ruth (Griswold) Mobley was born on June 15, 1926, to Charles and Cora Scoggins Griswold. She was one of six children and the only daughter. Growing up in Atlanta with five brothers was a wonderful and challenging experience for Etheleen. Her brothers, Pete, Robert, Judson (Buddy), John, and Don Griswold adored their sister. As adults, the brothers all joined the different branches of the Armed Services, which opened the door for Etheleen to also work with the military. While working for the military, Etheleen met the love of her life, Willie Mobley, Jr. His service would include WWII and the Korean War. While serving, the Army deployed Willie to Munich Germany and Etheleen and her four children Terry, Jerry, Patricia, and Sherri travelled to Munich Germany too. It was quite the experience for the entire family. Upon returning from Germany, the family settled in College Park, Georgia. As the children grew up and the house begin to get smaller, the family moved to East Point, Georgia. The family was long and active members of Colonial Hill Baptist Church. Willie passed away on September 7, 1979, at the age of 58. After Willie’s passing, Etheleen decided to rejoin the workforce and became a Crossing Guard for the East Point Police Department. After several years serving as a Crossing Guard, she decided to return to working for the military and served as a secretary for the FAA Military until 2009, when she retired at the age of 83. Retirement for Etheleen was filled with enjoying her four children Terry Mobley (Marie), Jerry Mobley (Vicki), Patricia Harrington and Sherri Knight (Allen) at her home in Morrow, GA. Soon new additions joined the family including Lauren Miller (Chris), Michael Mobley (Kenzie), Savannah Knight, Hunter, and Rachel Harrington. Before her passing on December 20, 2023, she was also the great-grandmother to Aria and Ellis Miller and Sawyer and Jude Mobley. Etheleen had a true love for her dogs, Mikey, Madison, and Oreo. Donations to Royal Animal Refuge (https://royalanimalrefuge.kindful.com) in memory of Etheleen are celebrated. A life well lived and enjoyed. Graveside services will at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 27 at College Park Cemetery.
