

Glenda Gail Coburn, age 69, was born on July 26, 1956, in Tougaloo, Mississippi, and passed away on December 11, 2025, in Jonesboro, Georgia. Glenda lived a full and vibrant life marked by love, service, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to others.
As a child, Glenda moved to North Chicago, Illinois, where many of her lifelong relationships were formed. She was the beloved daughter of the late Rosie Minter and Walter Zuber. Her life was deeply rooted in family, and she took great pride in being a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her children: Andrea (Voneric) Blaze of North Chicago, Illinois; Kacey Frierson of Jonesboro, Georgia; and Christopher (Sarah) Frierson of Grayslake, Illinois. Glenda was a proud grandmother to Corey, Brandon, Kimoni, Kimari, Kimron, Dehale, Jaylen, Jordyn, and Jayden, and a cherished great-grandmother to Heaven, Amira, Jailyah, Kyrie, Myla, Mikah, Korey, Maison, and Millani.
She also leaves behind her siblings: Walterine (Larry) Nixon, Shirley Minter, and Leonardo Minter, all of North Chicago, Illinois, and Wesley Minter of Virginia. Glenda is fondly remembered by her best friends, Carla Armstrong and David Hall of Waukegan, Illinois, as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who loved her dearly.
Glenda was preceded in death by her parents, Rosie Minter and Walter Zuber; her grandson, Dontae Blaze; and Kim Frierson.
Education and personal growth were important to Glenda. In 2012, she earned her GED, and in 2015, she obtained an Associate Degree in Office Technology Administrative Support from Interactive College of Technology—accomplishments she was immensely proud of.
Glenda was deeply involved in Alcoholics Anonymous, where she found purpose, fellowship, and a platform to serve others. She was a member of the Women Wanderers in District 12, served on the District 12 Board, held the role of Newsletter Chair, and was a dedicated Group Services Representative (GSR). A former member of Toastmasters, Glenda was a gifted speaker who shared her story at numerous AA conferences and events, inspiring countless individuals with her honesty, strength, and hope.
A true free spirit, Glenda embraced life with enthusiasm and joy. She loved travel, adventure, and making memories with her family. She had a rare gift—she never met a stranger and had an infectious presence that could light up any room. Her laughter, wisdom, and boundless love will be deeply missed.
Glenda leaves behind a powerful legacy of perseverance, service, and unconditional love. Her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A visitation will be held at Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home & Crematory, located at 135 Senoia Road, Peachtree City, GA 30269, on December 29, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
Following the visitation, a Celebration of Life will take place at the same location from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
