Guochen Du passed away in the embrace of the Lord on June 17, 2023, at 5:55 PM at Sacred Journey Hospice. When he left, he was surrounded by his beloved wife and children. His departure leaves us with sorrow, but it also frees him from pain and suffering.
Born on July 11, 1962, in Shangshui, Henan, Mr. Du grew up, studied, worked, got married, and had children in Henan until he settled in the United States on January 19, 2013. As the only child in his family went to college, he graduated from Zhengzhou University from China and became a high school teacher. During his time in China, as a history teacher, he was beloved by his students and respected by his colleagues, bringing infinite joy and happiness to those around him.
After coming to the United States, he worked as a chef in restaurant. During his work and life, he maintained a humble and polite attitude towards others and kept a diligent work style, earning the unanimous recognition of his colleagues, neighbors, and family members. After diagnosed with bile duct cancer on 2020, he never gave up fighting with the disease. He never complained about the disease and therapy, and his cancer doctor told us Mr. Du is the strongest patient he has ever seen.
On April 9, 2023, Guochen Du and his wife, Junmin Zhou, received baptism and became children of God. In the struggle against illness, he remained optimistic, never giving up, and always sharing love and joy with those around him. Although he has finally left this world and returned to the embrace of the Lord, his image and spirit will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends.
The family will receive friends at Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home and Crematory on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. with a Celebration of Life Funeral Service at 5:00 p.m.
