Although we did not know Shad, from his pictures he must have been a special man and father.  It is really hard to loose a father at such an early age.  Our thoughts, prayers and love are with you all.  We love you

I was lucky enough to spend a few wonderful years with Shad. We worked side by side on projects and I got to experience the joy those silly kittens brought him. He loved nature and nature loved him back. He gave his love as unconditionally as did the rest of his family. I love Shad and will truely miss him.

Memorial for Shad was bitter sweet.  Bitter because I was faced with the realization that Shad had left us way too soon. Sweet because Jay and Jayme were surrounded by so many who love them, and who loved their dad.  Surreal...the feeling of so many friends and family who mean so much to me gathered in one place.  I'd seen faces I hadn't seen in years; the best of old friends and so many of Shad's family who I've always cared so much for.  Over the crowd, I tried to keep an eye on Jay and Jayme.  You know, just checking to see how they were doing.  They seemed okay; absorbed in someone's story about their dad or listening to someone say how much their dad meant to them.  I could hear them laugh once in a while and that felt so good!  Kelly, Jerry and Norma's stories made me laugh and cry.  Thank you for loving Shad so much!  (Jerry, I want to know what Shad said to you in the cafeteria line at Clayton!)  Jayme and Jay think we should all get together once a year in celebration of Shad's life and call it "Shadapolooza"! They're so funny, just like their dad!  I know he'd be there!  We may have parted as husband and wife, but never parted as Jay and Jayme's parents.  We continued to share Jay and Jayme's birthdays and Christmases together through the years and I always knew that was not the norm, but that was normal to us!

Shad was one of my “little cousins.”  I was close to ten years old when he was born, and we moved away from East Point and our family when he was a baby.  Most of my memories are of how cute and funny he was as a little guy.  I guess the thing I’m feeling the most, after being at Shad’s memorial yesterday and seeing the mark he made, is regret that we didn’t have more time together as we grew older.  I would love to have known him better as the person he was becoming and became.  I’m proud that he was my cousin, and I loved him.  I always enjoyed Shad and his happy go lucky demeanor when I had a chance to be with him. My heart is heavy for Aunt Tillie, Jay and Jayme and all the rest of his closest family and friends.

I didn't see or talk to you nearly enough, but I always knew you were there
if I needed you. I don't know if you can hear me from Heaven, but I will be talking to you anyway as I already have.



Another incredible light goes dim way too soon! Shad had sooooo much talent, and he got it from his mom, Tillie, we believe. He was soooo creative and always was interesting to visit with to catch up on our lives while we were apart. We are forever grateful we were able to spend some quality time together recently at Jayme's wedding. We'll miss you man! Our prayers and deepest thoughts go out to the entire family and all his tightest friends too! While we are left behind in sorrow, he is sitting with the Lord right now! We'll see you soon .... say hello to Michael for us.

What an amazingly talented individual! Like so many, I had hoped to work with Shad again and learn even more. He designed the set for "Who's There" for us in the spring, and I was in awe of his talent. And the thing that always struck me was he was always smiling, always pleasant. When he shared his notebook of previous projects, he also shared photos of his children and referred to them as "my best work." And Shad and Norma seemed so very happy together. Although it is painful and so hard to comprehend, please know that our family keeps all of you in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.

I have lost one of the best friends I ever had and much too soon. My room mate out at Stagecoach Manor in Ellenwood and class mate at Clayton JC. Old Roy Chamlee called him "Shaggey" and we both loved the old man who was our landlord. Oh those were the days !
   Since then I think we both worked way too much in this life but we both did something we loved and legacy is all you take with you.
    Ol' Shaggey sure left a great one. God bless his family and all the great friends who had the honor to have known this wonderful brother. Rest in peace Shaggey.
