

Jeanne Wasden Burel, 91, of Peachtree City, GA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 25, 2023. Born on June 19, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Willie Clyde Wasden and Ruby Jeannette Robinson Wasden.
Jeanne was an Atlanta native and graduate of Hoke Smith High School. After retiring from Georgia Institute of Technology, Jeanne volunteered as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for Children and enjoyed fellowship as a member of the Red Hat Society. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she was affectionately known as “Maw Maw” to her adoring grandchildren.
Jeanne is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, James Herbert Burel; two children, Pam J. LaBrecque (Bryan) of Peachtree City and Brad J. Burel (April) of Cartersville; grandchildren, Brett T. LaBrecque (Mary), Steven C. LaBrecque (Sarah) and Rachel B. Powell (Chris); great-grandchildren, Theodore LaBrecque, Claire LaBrecque, Nora LaBrecque, Elijah Powell, Oliver Powell and Lillian Powell. Loved and adored by her family, she will forever be in our hearts.
Jeanne will be remembered for her witty sense of humor and her love for her family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory to Southwest Christian Care Hospice. Her legacy will live on through the lives she touched and memories she created.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, October 30, 2023, at Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home, 135 Senoia Rd., Peachtree City, GA. Visitation begins at 10:00 a.m. with the service to follow at 11:00 a.m.
