Jerry Wayne Maxwell, age 79, of Manchester, GA passed away on Friday, September 10, 2021. Jerry was born in Hogansville, Georgia on January 3, 1942 to the late James Noble Maxwell and Eula Mae Hale Maxwell. He was predeceased by 5 of his siblings, Henry J. Maxwell, Charles O. Maxwell, Billy Joe Maxwell, Marie Bishop, and Betty Thompson.
Mr. Maxwell worked at Georgia Power Company for 25 years. In 1995, Jerry and Jan moved to the Slaughter family farm in Manchester where he enjoyed farming, raising cows and goats. He also enjoyed playing golf. He was an active member and deacon at First Baptist Church of Manchester.
Mr. Maxwell is survived by his wife, Jan Slaughter Maxwell; daughter, Gerise Bondurant of Gainesville son Marcus Maxwell of Covington; step-son, Joseph Durham of Manchester; and step-daughter, Leanne (Trey) Harden of Milton; grandchildren, Sydney Bondurant, Madison Bondurant, Levi Durham, Duri Harden, Lily Kate Durham, Macurdy Harden, Davis Durham, and Dauster Harden; brother, James H. Maxwell; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Manchester, GA in the Prayer Garden. Rev. Len Strozier and Dr. Craig Williamson and will officiate. A gathering for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service.
