This was one of the last videos Jimena posted on tik tok. As we come up on the 5th year since she passed, I wanted to share this. Even while she was struggling, she always made sure to attempt to lift people up. She was a shining light to everyone and is missed constantly.

Today April 9, 2023 is three years already of my dear Jimena going to Heaven. Today is Easter....
Jimena I truly miss you, I wish you were here.... I know that Jesus himself came to meet you at your dead. I know that you are telling me I must not grieve because you love me still....

April 9, 2021. One year. 

In honor of Jimena, I would like to share this quote with you all. 

"What we once enjoyed and deeply loved, we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes part of us" - Hellen Keller. 

Jimena is with us in every form. Whether it be a gentle breeze or the mere warmth of the sun. She will live on forever... especially in our hearts. 

Jimena and I met our freshman year of high school in California when I was the new kid and didn't know anyone. She was one of the first people I talked to consistently and really became friends with. Talking to her really brought me out of my shell that year but the one reason I valued her friendship more than anything was because she never forgot about me or anything I shared. 

Whether or not we saw each other regularly, she would always check in with me and after she moved away, she would invite me to hangout when she came into town to visit.  If I texted her, even if we hadn't talked in months, we would end up talking for hours and hours like no time had passed.

It's been a year since we lost her, but I will never forget the kindness she showed me. I love you, girl. Always. <3

Jimena was one of my first real friends. I met her on the bus in first grade. She insisted on braiding my hair and after a couple minutes of arguing I finally caved in and let her.  Unfortunately a first grader doesn’t really know how to braid hair, and instead tied it in a knot. That’s my first ever memory of Jimena, the girl that tied my hair in a knot on the bus. We used to always laugh about that story together. We’d sit on the trampoline for hours talking and making music videos together. She was my best friend for a long time and I’ll never forget that. Jimena always had a big heart and put others first. I’m honored that I was able to be so close to her for so long. I’ll always keep her and her family close to my heart. 

Jimena and I met in California. I still remember, It was sophomore year in math class, she walked in late and sat at the table I was at. I'd never seen her before and thought she was a freshman at fist. She seemed really sweet so I wanted to talk to her and before I knew it we were hanging out and going to the mall, eating lunch together, and sitting together in math class with our other friend, Monica. Jimena was never afraid to be who she was.  When she was happy, she would show it with a beautiful smile or sweet, loud, and funny laugh. When she was mad or annoyed, she wouldn't be afraid to say something. 
Jimena helped me through a lot, she always knew what to say to make me feel better, she had such good advice for me and was ALWAYS there when and if I needed her. Jimena became a big part in my life, even after she moved we stayed in touch. I wasn't sure how long we would stay in touch for since I personally don't keep in touch with a lot of people, but Jimena was special and we kept in touch, constantly messaging each other and occasionally FaceTiming, she kept me in the loop with what happened in her life, as I did the same. I'm so blessed to have known her, I'm so blessed that she was late to class and sat at the same table I sat, I'm so blessed that we kept in touch. 
Jimena, thank you for being in my life. Thank you for helping me with everything you helped me with. I can't wait to see you again, I'll always remember you and and the great times we had together. You truly were the best of the best when it came to best friends and I thank you dearly for everything you've done for me. I can't thank you enough for being there for me, for listening to me, for cheering me up, cheering me on, smiling when I needed it, being there for me, and thank you for just being you.

Jimena was one of the most beautiful souls I had the privilege of meeting in my life. No matter what, she always put others before herself and did whatever she could to make people happy.  I knew from the day that I met her, that she was an incredibly strong person with so much love and wisdom to share with the world. She was the type of person to fight for what she believed in. She was extremely driven, hardworking, and just someone you wanted to be around. If you had the opportunity to see her dancing her heart out to music or hear her simply laughing at dumb jokes, you would understand how much positivity she radiated. Even when she was going through a tough time, she would continue to stay positive. 

One of the things I cherish most about our friendship is all the late night talks we had about what we learned about life and the advice we would give to each other. We could go hours talking about the future and the past. Her words are forever engraved in my brain and she became an inspiration to me. Her strength and open-mindedness were things I value so much. 
I miss those talks. I miss the times we spent together hanging out where we'd hog as many fluffy blankets as we could. I miss laughing at stupid jokes and raving over how much we loved waffles and pancakes... especially with the Aunt Jemima Maple Syrup. I miss all the memories we had in and out of school. 

Jimena, you're the reason I started to understand aspects of life I didn't before. You are the reason I started painting again. You have given me so much to learn and I will forever be thankful for you. 

Your legacy will live on forever. No matter what, you will never EVER be forgotten. 

That's a promise.

My Jimena was a real fighter in her situation of suffering depression.... every day of her life was a battle sometimes a small one , sometimes a  big and dificult battle. 
I remember her doing many  efforts....  and I honor her for that.
I still tell to her  :  "You are in my heart everyday" " You still matters"
or  "Please intercede for me"

Jimena and I met freshman year of high school when she lived in California. Over time, she grew to be one of my closest friends and a very important part of my life. She was one of the kindest people I know, always providing us with support and making sure we were listened to and valued. She was also extremely thoughtful. On birthdays and Christmases,  she didn't just give us a store bought card attached to a gift card. She personalized a "happy box" for me with each layer of the box filled with pictures of happy memories and positive quotes. Every single one of her gifts was so aesthetic, genuine and thoughtful, I don't think anyone can ever top her efforts. She was also artistic, funny, smart, diligent, resilient, and beautiful inside and out. I remember in freshman lit, her final presentation was about eating disorders. She presented the information so confidently and eloquently, changing my entire understanding of eating disorders. You could tell that she was passionate about it, and she always took the time to educate herself and spread awareness. She had the drive and ability to do so much good in the world, whatever she put her mind to. I miss hanging out with her on the rally stairs, getting boba and hanging out at the park, celebrating birthdays at movie theaters and pools and laughing about randomest of things during brunch and lunch. She brought into my life more laughter, love and knowledge than I could ever thank her for. She really was an incredible person that I will not ever forget.

Love you always girl, I miss you. 

I met Jimena when we both lived in California, we helped each other through a lot of hard times. Jimena’s laugh is deeply missed. If you ever heard jimena laugh, you received a wonderful gift. We jokingly and lovingly called her Aunt Jemima (the syrup brand) in our friend group because our her joyful energy and caring spirit, just like the Crazy loving aunt we all needed.   From sitting in boba cafes to night time walks on the beach, our time spent together was always enjoyed and will be remembered. 
Jimena fought hard, always offering a positive word when someone needed one. Her artistic talent was incredible.  She will forever be missed.

I am from Corpus Christi Church in Round Lake, NY where Jemena and her family worshiped when they lived in New York.  Many of our parishioners wish to contact the family regarding Jemena's passing.  Jemena was a wonderful, precious child and our community is grieving because of her loss.  Please contact me so those close to Jemena in our church may be able to send her family their thoughts and memories of their terrific child - Jemena.  Our thoughts and prayers are with them, always.

Jimena was a student in my Intro to Psychology course in the Fall of 2019. She was bright, sweet, considerate, sometimes shy, and loving. I appreciated her comments in class and how she cared so much about her family and learning. She wrote very well and was one of the best and brightest in the class!

I believe her legacy continues on in the hearts of those students she influenced for good as well as her family and friends. I know when I think of her, I will smile and remember the great memories we shared! To me, Jimena fought a good fight and I honor her for it. 

May Jimena's family and friends know they aren't alone and that she still matters, even though she is not physically here with us anymore. She is alive in our hearts and minds!
