Mr. Jimmy Russell Garner, 73, of Brooks, Ga passed away June 24, 2021 in Griffin, GA. When we think of daddy, we think of unconditional love. We never questioned his love for us. This unconditional love was not reserved for his children, he was this way with everyone in his life. If you needed money, he would give you his last dime, with no return required for his generosity. Sacrifice was the biggest part of his soul. He would not push his love on anyone but was always happy to see you. He was a simple man with simple beliefs. Money could not buy anything that he needed. He wasn't much of a jokester, either. He was a "tell you just about as straight as he can tell you" kind of man. He had a thirst for knowledge, nature and nothing was better than a beer to help quench a thirst. All of that he shared because he knew "a little bit about a lot of things and some just enough to hurt me”. In his words, he was a country boy leaving home to a world he knew nothing about. Boarding a C141 Starlifter, with a first stop in Alaska then to Japan then stopping in Viet Nam for 365 days of Hell. A naïve country boy that came back as the man we know and are proud to know. Daddy we want to thank you for your unconditional love, your sacrifices, your straight talk and your service. Over and out until we see you again.
He is survived by his children, Rhonda Garner and spouse Jennifer; (Jamie) Jimmy Russell Garner II; and Janet Garner-Hayles and Spouse, Nicki; grandchildren; Taylor, Anissa, Matthew, Jameson, and Watson; great grandchildren, Isaiah, Autumn, Hunter, and Caroline; parents, Jasper and Audrey Garner; siblings, Quenton Garner, Larry Garner, (Fuzzy) Jasper Garner, Linda Scott, Patsy Meacham, Stanley Garner and preceded in death by W.J.
