

In her younger years she loved attending Elvis concerts. She loved her some Elvis and knew every song Elvis ever recorded and all the words to every song. In her golden years she enjoyed spending time with her beloved dog, Sophie. Everyone she met, she let them know that was her “Baby Darling” and she could do no wrong. If she wanted to go outside every three minutes, then she went outside every three minutes. Whatever Sophie wanted; she got.
JoAnn was the Co-Owner of Metro Color Lab in East Point for around 15 years.
JoAnn was an affectionate, dedicated, and loving wife, mother, gran, and grandmama who always put the needs of others first. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in East Point, GA where she was the President of the WMU for many years. She was a faithful servant of Jesus Christ her Lord and Savior.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Gene Hobgood; her parents; and eight siblings.
Survivors include her daughter, Renee Lavender (Corky Jordan, fiancé) of Sharpsburg, GA; son, Ronnie Hobgood (Jean Raines) of Newnan, GA; grandsons, Brian McGuire of Newnan, GA and Drew Hobgood (Kim) of Sharpsburg, GA; and great-grandson, Andrew Hobgood; brothers, Cleveland Johnson (Joyce) of Lilburn, GA, and Mark Johnson (Melba) of Newnan, GA; sisters, Glenda Walls (Bob) of Villa Rica, GA, Brenda LaRue, of Cleveland, GA, and Diane Manley (Bill) of Fairburn, GA.
A visitation for JoAnn will be held Friday, June 27, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM in the Rose Room at Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home & Crematory, 135 Senoia Road, Peachtree City, GA 30269. The funeral service will be 2:00 PM, with Dr. Doug McCart officiating the service. Burial to follow the services at Westminster Memorial Gardens, 2090 GA-54, Peachtree City, Peachtree City, Georgia 30269.
