Joesette S. Whalen

April 17, 1955November 23, 2018

Joesette Sue Perkins Whalen, of Franklin, GA was born on April 17, 1955 in Salt Lake City, UT to the late Jewel Iona McNeely and James Frederic Perkins. She was one of the six children. Her siblings who entered Heaven before her were Macel Hahaj, Greg Perkins, and Mary Rodriquez. She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Heaven Leigh Whalen; nephew, Chuck Chestnut; niece Connie Fueston; and a few of her favorite pets, Baby, Jake, and Darby.

She gained her wings on November 23, 2018 at Piedmont Hospital in Newnan, GA, before her two remaining siblings, Lee Perkins of Lake Charles, LA and Deborah Johnson of Jacksonville, FL.

Joesette (A.K.A. Jody) had many accomplishments but her biggest and most beloved were her two sets of twins. She is survived by her sons, Kenneth Jerome Whalen of South Bend, IN and Christopher James Whalen of Madison, GA; her daughters, Meagan Kelly Fomby of Hogansville, GA and Tara Lynn Whalen of Franklin, GA; her grandchildren, Mercadee, Christopher, Kristen, Joshua, Kylie, and Regan; and her great-grandchildren, Annalynn, Maysen, Azalea, and Mila. They were all later her source of happiness and joy. She absolutely loved her family.

Some of her other accomplishments were: she graduated from LaSalle High School in South Bend, IN, she joined the US Navy; she also worked with the A6 Simulators and attended a nightly community college in Havelock, NC. All the while raising her four children on her own. After college, she then worked as a CNA before finding her calling as a rural carrier for the US Postal Service in Bogart, GA and Newnan, GA.

Jody loved and was loved by many, many, people who she came in contact with. She always love making her family happy, even at the expense of her own happiness. She was a hardworking and dedicated lady. She never found the time to remarry as she was always putting her children first! She will be forever missed by all of her children; and numerous family and friends. Her favorite cat, Moto, will miss her a lot too.

Rest in Peace Mama!! We love you and Always will!! ~Kenny, Chris, Meagan, and Tara

Kenny, Chris, Meagan, Tara and families ... there are no words to say to take away your pain, but know your mom loved all of you so much. From all the stories I read on Facebook, she was an amazing lady. I love you all so much and you'll be in my thoughts and prayers in the difficult moments, days and weeks ahead. ❤
