John Harrison Dodd, 90, of Peachtree City, GA passed away to be with his savior, Jesus Christ, on February 2, 2025. Born and raised in the small town of Nauvoo, Alabama, John was the youngest of four rowdy boys. He was raised by P.L. and Margaret Dodd Sr., with his three brothers, P.L. ‘Son’ Dodd Jr., Kenneth L. Dodd, and William L. Dodd.
After graduating from Castle Heights Military Academy in Lebanon TN, John attended the University of Alabama but felt a strong sense of duty and enlisted in the U.S. Army. He proudly served for three years, primarily deployed in Okinawa, Japan.
At the age of 22, John moved to Atlanta, GA where he began a long and fulfilling career with Delta Air Lines. For 31 years, he devoted himself to the company, working in various roles and ultimately attaining the position of System Manager In-Flight Service. His commitment to the job and his colleagues earned him respect and admiration.
John’s passion for travel led him throughout the US and the world and there was nothing better than having him as a confident, informed guide on wonderful trips, especially for Alabama Crimson Tide football games. His excitement was contagious, and he made those around him glad he was there.
John was married for 20 years to Lucille, with whom he had four children: Robert Dodd, Scottsdale, AZ; Melinda West, Greenville, SC; Mitchell Dodd who preceded him in death and Jennifer Sage, Peachtree City, GA. John was also a proud grandfather of four: Madeline Dodd, Drew Sage, Emily Sage and Gianna Dodd.
John, who never met a stranger, was known for his calm presence, analytical thinking and kind nature. Many good things resulted from John’s counsel and his wisdom remains with those he touched.
A graveside service will be held at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City, GA on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 10:30am.
