Faith, Hope, and Love carried Joyce through her amazing life, and home to God. She spent her life sharing her faith with her 5 children, Scott, Kyler, Sarah, Michael, and Joy. She crafted Bible stories onto flannel story boards and shared salvation with so many throughout her life. Children and adults were enthralled learning of God’s love. Her gift of sharing these truths delighted souls in churches, schools, libraries, homes, and anywhere God led her. Her love of animals was boundless, and a lifelong comfort to her soul. Her most amazing animal friend was a bottlenose dolphin named Moby. She trained him with love and his showman personality mesmerized the crowds at Florida land in the 60’s.
She was heartbroken when he swam away during Kyler’s birth. Faith, Hope, and Love lifted her from despair and inspired her to write “Moby’s Tale”, their true story from his eyes. Grownups cry at the Happy and Sad end. That endless love inspired her to buy a camper and a jet ski. She spent months searching for her old friend in the waterways around Osprey Florida; four decades after he swam away. Wanting the best for her kids, and loving animals, she started a horse farm in the country. At cookouts, horseback riding, and hayloft campouts; friends and neighbors were always welcomed. And she never met a stranger. It was a beautiful place to live, love, home-school and raise a family.
Nothing lasts forever, and her faith helped her transition to a new life. With her parents help, she got her nursing license, and became the provider for her five children. With her children grown, and overflowing with love and kindness, she volunteered at animal shelters, rescue habitats, and the Atlanta Aquarium. Through her Journey, she wore many hats; model, flight attendant, dental hygienist, teacher, animal trainer, nurse, volunteer, wife, daughter, grandmother, and great grandmother, but non-more important the Momma! She was Amazing and raised us by example. She gifted us all with determination and perseverance. We have all followed in her footsteps to be rewarding, full of Faith, Hope, and Love.
In her final years she was comforted and cared for at Brad and Kyler’s home. After a difficult battle with Alzheimer’s, she went home to be with Jesus. She is survived by her five children, Scott Manzel, Kyler Yarbrough, Sarah Barry, Michael Manzel, and Joy Livingston-Manzel. Her 8 Grandchildren, Kristi Lane, Brooke Manzel, Avery Manzel, Callie Manzel, Dakota Manzel, Ava Manley, Zoe Livingston, and Mick Allen Manzel. Her 3 Great Grandchildren, Kaylie Lane, Sophia Lane, and Luke Lane. She is preceded by Karl Manzel.
