

Larry Eugene Koppenhaver was born on May 10, 1944, at his home outside of Halifax, Pennsylvania. He died suddenly at his home in Peachtree City, Georgia, on December 10, 2019. He lived most of his life in Pennsylvania before spending time in New Hampshire and Georgia. He had a long career as a well-known and respected dealer of heavy construction equipment. Most recently, he worked several years with Keep Peachtree City Beautiful. Larry loved sports, and especially football in which he excelled on Lower Dauphin High School’s first championship team. He was a member of the Fuzzy Few Organization (FFO) in Hummelstown and also was a well-liked coach of their powerhouse midget football team, the Hummelstown Bulldogs, with several undefeated seasons. He was an avid fan of Penn State college football, having attended many games in Beaver Stadium, and was patiently waiting since 1982 and 1986 for another national championship.
Larry was survived by Kay, his loving wife of 38 years; is survived by his six children, Jeffery M. Koppenhaver (Caroline), Pamela K. Waverka (John), Jennifer M. Roman (Joseph), Bethanne Hume, Jennifer L. Hunter (Eugene), and Janelle M. Koppenhaver Cacciola (John); eleven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ethel Mae (Koppenhaver) Mortorf; his stepfather, Wilford “Bill” Mortorf; and estranged father, Michael Verbish.
A Memorial Celebration will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Fayetteville, GA. His final resting place will be Hummelstown Cemetery in Pennsylvania.
