Mrs. Leora Brown, age 89, of Peachtree City, GA passed away on January 16, 2014. Leora was a native of Atlanta. She was married for 52 wonderful years to her late husband, John Brown. She retired from Arrow Shirt Co. where she worked for 30 years. She was a bright and lovely Christian woman who spent her whole life serving others. Her life was a witness to all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Brown; and son-in-law, Dr. Donald W. Gross. She is survived by her daughters, Georgia Ann Gross and Sandy (Bob) Thomas; grandsons, Rob (Kelly) Thomas and Alex Thomas; great-grandchildren, Ian and Megan Thomas; sister, Carol (Calvin) Monroe; sister-in-law, Doris (Jim) Whaley; and many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. Funeral services will be held in the chapel at Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home in Peachtree City on Sunday, January 19, 2014 at 2:00pm with Joe Ivey and Reverend John Crotts officiating. A reception with heavy hors d’oeuvres will be held from 12:30-2:00pm preceding the service. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in College Park, GA.
