January 5, 1941April 28, 2013

THURLBY, Linda Margaret. Linda Margaret Thurlby, 72, of Tyrone, Georgia, passed away April 28, 2013 (27 years to the day of her mother’s passing). Born in Middletown, NY to the late James and Loretta Hoffman, she grew up in Beechhurst, NY. After raising 2 children and a husband she graduated from New York University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Creative Writing. After a distinguished career in advertising and real estate sales, she moved to Tyrone in 1999 where she quickly became an award winning account executive for the Atlanta Journal Constitution. Her real passion, however, was her writing. She has published numerous short stories, travel articles, magazine features, biographical studies and, perhaps her favorite food and restaurant reviews. After retiring, she went on to do fund raising and marketing for local charitable organizations like the Real Life Center, Newnan Coweta Humane Society, and Global Partners in Life.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Bruce W. Thurlby, two daughters, Kelly Ann Phelan and Bridget Mary Stone and son-in-law, Ron Stone. She is also survived by her sister, Dianne Hulbert; grandchildren, Gunner and Megan Stone and many treasured nephews, nieces, grand-nephews and nieces and her great grand-nephew.

A celebration of Linda’s life will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 3, 2013 at Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home in Peachtree City. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Real Life Center, or Tender Heart Rescue who rescued Linda’s beloved dog, Miss Honey Petunia.

Bridget...some of the pictures in the photo gallery really brought me back. I have some wonderful memeories of your mother....beautiful, creative and funny! Remember the time she and Bruce watched Charlie one night so we could go out and when we returned he was wearing a diaper held on with electrical tape? We all had a good laugh. I bet she was a pretty awesome Grandmother. I wish I could be there in person to express my condolences and give you a hug, but please know you and your family remain in my thoughts and prayers.
Peace & Love~June

Linda was a very special person and I will always remember her as funny, fiesty and very interested in learning new things. She was a joy to have in my yoga classes and I really enjoyed the time we spent together talking as she was fighting her battle. Such an interesting person! The photo is from our chair yoga class and one that Linda was successful in getting into the newspaper when other attempts had failed. Very grateful she was in my life even though it was a short time.

God controls the time clock of life and the calendar of history. He orders our days, and as His children we can rest assured that our times are in His hands.
Diane, you and your family are in my prayers as you lay Linda into the Lords loving arms.
Sincerely, Frances Burns

Dianne, I was remembering the service for Freddie and how I so rarely laugh on such painful occasions. Your family has a great sense of humor and your love for each other shows in your humor. I too want to remember Linda all put together, handing you an energy bar to eat, and sharing a new book title with you. Wonder if they have e-book in Heaven? I love you, Jan
